GDELS-Santa Bárbara Systems celebrated Industry Day yesterday at its stand inFEINDEF 25 to highlight the role of local suppliers in the company's projects. The celebration brought together more than 200 of the 900 Spanish suppliers involved in the development of GDELS Santa Bárbara Systems' major projects. This event has enabled the completion of pioneering projects at the factories in Trubia (Asturias) and Seville, along with the technology center in Madrid.
This project aims to meet the needs of the Spanish Army, a force seeking to replace its M-109 units, which have been operational for more than half a century. or the Piranha 10x10 with a maximum weight of 40 tons, which increases the payload capacity to 17 tons.
Alejandro Page, Director of Operations for Santa Bárbara Sistemas GDELS, highlighted that the General Dynamics Group in Europe manages and administers, from its headquarters in Madrid, the group's companies in Switzerland (Mowag), Austria (Steyr), Germany (GDELS-Deutschland), Spain (Santa Bárbara Sistemas), Romania (GDELS-RO), Denmark, and the Czech Republic in 15 centers that develop European defense technology for the entire world.
Since acquiring the national company Santa Bárbara, now Santa Bárbara Sistemas, in 2001, GDELS has become "a leading company in the defense sector, adding value to industry and the Spanish Armed Forces. And it positions Spain as a benchmark in the design and systemization of land platforms."
Teresa Ruiz, Senior Supply Chain Manager at General Dynamics European Land Systems Santa Barbara Systems, emphasized that GDELS is, at its core, a designer and integrator of armored vehicles, amphibious platforms, and artillery systems with more than 4,500 suppliers across the European Union, 900 of them Spanish.

Therefore, they are committed to supporting them in their training and certification to achieve the highest quality standards, which define the operational capabilities of the company's vehicles.
