SAES: Innovation in underwater surveillance and protection

SAES is a strategic Spanish company, a leader in technological innovation and a specialist in underwater acoustics and multi-influence. With over 30 years of experience, SAES has developed advanced solutions in sonar, underwater defense, multi-influence measures, naval mines, and critical infrastructure protection. These high-tech systems are deployed in over 20 countries and are used on naval platforms such as minesweepers, frigates, submarines, MPAs, ASW helicopters, and UxVs.

During FEINDEF 2025 trade fair, SAES presents the Ocean Sentinel underwater surveillance system, developed in collaboration with the Spanish company SATLINK. This innovative system, unique in the market, is designed to optimize maritime security and defense by ensuring early threat detection in naval environments. A scenario of the Multi Influence Range System (MIRS) will be displayed at the SAES booth, and among other planned activities, the Center of Excellence in Underwater Technologies (CETSUB) will be presented, as well as the signing of agreements with major defense companies such as Thales and Indra.

Ocean Sentinel: at the forefront of acoustic surveillance

Ocean Sentinel marks a significant advance in surveillance systems, incorporating cutting-edge acoustic technology. This autonomous system operates through a network of smart buoys, connected to a remote control centre that processes and analyses early warnings. Equipped with highly sensitive hydrophones, these buoys detect sounds from the marine environment, enabling the identification of underwater threats and the protection of critical infrastructure. Ocean Sentinel will soon be tested during NATO's REPMUS 2025 exercises in Portugal, in close collaboration with the Navy.

The collaboration with SATLINK is an example of SAES's policy of promoting national alliances that strengthen the technological fabric.

MIRS: Precision in multi-influence measurement

In addition, SAES showcases the Multi-Influence Range System (MIRS), designed to analyse and improve the detection and classification of ships and submarines. The measurement and classification of multi-influence signatures are essential in both the military and civilian sectors to identify and characterize ships, protect critical infrastructure, and preserve the marine environment.

MIRS is a modular and versatile system that offers precise measurements of magnetic, electrical, acoustic, seismic, and pressure influences in various marine environments. This knowledge is essential for reducing ship detectability and optimizing operational performance.

In the defense sector, having multi-influence data allows both fleet protection by reducing signatures and improving threat detection through the precise characterization of ship signatures. MIRS is presented as a proven, in-service system that meets the highest standards for multi-influence measurement in different operational environments.
